Installation Notes
Proper installation is critical for the performance and safety of your clutch system. We recommend that this part be installed by a qualified truck mechanic. However, if you are performing the installation yourself, please follow these guidelines carefully.
1.Safety First: Always disconnect the vehicle’s battery before beginning any work on the hydraulic system.
2.Access the Cylinder: The master cylinder is typically located on the firewall inside the cab, connected to the clutch pedal. You may need to remove interior panels for access.
3.Disconnect: Carefully disconnect the hydraulic line from the old cylinder. Be prepared for some fluid spillage. Then, detach the cylinder from the clutch pedal linkage and unbolt it from the firewall.
4.Installation: Mount the new FG9804230158 master cylinder, ensuring a secure fit against the firewall. Reconnect the clutch pedal linkage and the hydraulic line, using new copper washers if supplied.
5.Bleeding the System: This is the most critical step. Fill the reservoir with fresh, manufacturer-recommended brake fluid (DOT 3 or DOT 4). Bleed the entire clutch hydraulic system to remove all air bubbles. A spongy or soft pedal feel indicates that air is still present in the lines.
6.Final Checks: Once the system is bled and the pedal feels firm, check all connections for leaks. Reconnect the battery and test the clutch operation, ensuring smooth gear changes before returning the vehicle to service.
