Installation Notes
Replacing the gear selector top cover housing requires careful alignment to ensure proper gear engagement.
1.Safety and Preparation: Ensure the vehicle is safely supported and the transmission is in Neutral. Clean the top of the gearbox thoroughly to prevent dirt from falling into the transmission when the cover is removed.
2.Removal: Disconnect the external shift linkage and any air lines. Remove the mounting bolts. Carefully lift the old AZ2222210038 housing, noting the position of the internal shift forks. Clean the mating surface of the gearbox housing.
3.Alignment: CRITICAL STEP. Ensure the internal shift rods/forks in the new housing are in the Neutral position. Carefully lower the housing onto the gearbox, ensuring the internal selector forks engage correctly with the synchronizer sleeves.
4.Sealing and Bolting: Apply a thin, even bead of high-temperature RTV silicone sealant or use a new genuine gasket. Install the mounting bolts and tighten them in a star pattern to the specified torque.
5.Linkage Adjustment: Reconnect the external shift linkage and air lines. Check the gear shift lever in the cab for proper travel and smooth engagement in all gears. Fine-tune the linkage adjustment as necessary.
